Behind the Design: Murals Underfoot
Posted by Julian Moran on
I do not think of myself as being in the wallpaper business. Wallpaper is one of the ways I shape how a room feels. I am less interested in decoration for its own sake than in creating spaces that feel calmer and more restorative. Tides, Melt and Falcon each began with a moment in nature. The patterns first appeared as wallcoverings and now continue onto the floor through Murals Underfoot, where wool, carved lines and changes in pile add a new layer of texture. Tides Tides began with shallow water moving over areas of light and dark sand. The water...

Your browser does not support the video tag. This short film offers a glimpse into the making of Murals Underfoot, our new collection of hand-tufted rugs inspired by the same natural rhythms, fluid forms and layered textures found throughout our wallcoverings and murals. The video captures the thinking behind the collection, from early pattern development to the tactile details that bring each rug to life. Murals Underfoot brings our nature-inspired visual language from the wall onto the floor. Created as a continuation of our mural work, the collection explores how pattern, texture and movement can shape the atmosphere of a...

A Current of Indigo in Sonoma, CA In The Paradox House in Sonoma, California, STREAMS | COBALT envelops this angular powder room in a continuous field of indigo. Designed by Schwartz and Architecture and photographed by Bruce Damonte, the pattern moves seamlessly across walls and ceiling, softening the room’s geometry while creating a focused, immersive moment within the larger home. The result is graphic yet calming, an architectural gesture that feels both intentional and quietly atmospheric. Introducing Apex: The 3rd Installment of our Collaboration with Astek.
Posted by Julian Moran on
Apex, a New Perspective, From Above. Apex, the third installment in our collaboration with Astek, considers terrain from above, where geography resolves into line, movement, and form. Drawn from aerial perspectives, the collection translates the language of topography into something both precise and expressive, with ridgelines, contours and sweeping expanses distilled into pattern. Rendered through intricate linework and calibrated color, each design balances clarity with atmosphere. The collection introduces four new styles - Aerial, Drift, Satellite and Topo - each offered in five distinct colorways, expanding the visual language first established in our earlier collaboration, ASCEND.
