Introducing 'Pathways': Navigating the Fluid Terrain of Choice and Design
Posted by Julian Moran on
Our existence is a flowing river, each decision creating currents that steer us toward diverse landscapes and varied destinies. Just as a stream meanders through bends and under bridges, ultimately joining larger bodies of water, so too do our choices influence the course of our lives, leading us into new terrains and circumstances. This powerful connection between choice and flow serves as the driving force behind my latest collection, “Pathways”. It's a vivid series of murals that encapsulate the mazes, flows and crossroads punctuating our individual journeys.
Created through a fusion of hand-drawn sketches and intricately-curated mood boards, each design in the “Pathways” collection is a visual expression of this fluid metaphor. The essence of natural landscapes, from winding rivers to a cherished creek from my own past, permeate every mural, shaping their character and spirit.
Striking a harmonious balance between the ethereal and the dynamic, the collection seeks to envelop viewers in a world where soft, earth-toned neutrals are enlivened by bursts of captivating color. This duality offers a dynamic narrative experience, instilling a sense of tranquility while igniting curiosity. It's a balance designed to both nourish the eye and energize the spirit.
Functionally, what makes this collection compelling is its adaptability. These wall treatments transcend the limitations of space and style, enriching everything from intimate domestic corners to expansive communal areas. The meticulous balance of scale and hue within each design makes them universally adaptable, adding a layer of depth to any environment they inhabit, whether commercial or residential.
Among the collection's designs, the "Flow" pattern holds a unique emotional resonance for me. Conceived during meditative sessions that took me back to the creek of my childhood—a haven of discovery and wonder—the "Flow" design captures that foundational sense of freedom. Despite having to leave that sanctuary abruptly as a child because of a move, its emotional imprint endured. Throughout my life, I’ve found similar sanctuaries in various bodies of water. "Flow" is a tribute to these interlinked waypoints, uniting them into a design as universally relatable as it is personally significant.
As you explore the “Pathways” collection, I invite you to reflect upon the intriguing nature of life's myriad choices and narratives. May these wallcoverings serve as the canvas upon which your own journey is artfully illustrated, reminding us all that it's the paths we choose that ultimately tell our story.
